Working Principle
The closure member of a globe valve is a plug-shaped disc, featuring flat or conical sealing surfaces. The disc travels linearly along the fluid's central axis during operation. Globe valves are designed exclusively for fully open or fully closed positions and are not intended for flow regulation or throttling applications.
The valve stem actuation mechanism may adopt either a rising stem design (where the stem ascends/descends while the handwheel remains stationary) or a rising rotating stem configuration (where the handwheel and stem rotate and lift simultaneously, with the stem nut integrated into the valve body).
As a force-sealed valve, the globe valve requires the application of sufficient pressure to the disc during closure to ensure a leak-tight seal at the sealing interface. This design guarantees reliable shut-off performance under demanding service conditions.
